5-HTP (5-hydroxytryptophan) is a derivative of the amino acid tryptophan and is transformed into the brain in the neurotransmitter serotonin that has an effect on appetite, sleep and mood.
Recommended dosage
You can take up to 3 tablets a day, half an hour before meals or half an hour before bedtime. Start with one tablet and if necessary, or if your doctor suggests it, increase the dose. Do not exceed the recommended daily allowance. It is preferable for 5-HTP to be taken for periods of up to 3 months. Some people may experience light drowsiness, so it is recommended that you determine how 5-HTP affects you not driving or operating machinery.
